Managing Spaces
Spaces are where you and your team can create, store, and organize all of your documentation within Cartographer. They serve as structured areas to collaborate, manage content, and maintain clarity across projects. Spaces can be tailored to reflect teams, departments, or specific workflows. In addition to manually created content, Cartographer also automatically places your generated documentation into the appropriate spaces, helping you keep everything organized and easily accessible.
Create a New Space
- Navigate to the Spaces page using the left-hand sidebar.
- At the bottom of the navigation panel, click the Add Space button.
- When the text field appears, enter a name for your new space. Space names must be unique across your organization.
- After creating your space, you can manage its settings; such as adding members and configuring visibility by clicking the Settings button located in the top-right corner of the screen.
Space Settings
Within the Settings page, you can manage key aspects of your space, including:
- Updating the space name
- Adjusting visibility settings
- Adding or removing members and modifying their roles within the space
- Delete the space
By default, a space is set to private, meaning only members explicitly added to the space can view its content. You can choose to make the space public, which grants read-only access to all users in your organization.
You can also access quick actions by clicking the ellipsis next to your space in the sidebar. From there, you can quickly update the space name or delete the space.
Roles
Each space in Cartographer supports three distinct roles: Operator, Editor, and Viewer. These roles define the level of access and actions a user can take within a space, allowing for flexible collaboration and permission control.
| Operator | Grants full control over the space, including updating space settings, adding or removing members, deleting the space, and creating or editing content. |
| Editor | Allows the user to create and edit content within the space, but does not provide access to administrative settings or member management. |
| Viewer | Provides read-only access to content within the space. The user cannot make any changes or manage settings. |
